The Section on Sociology of Culture and the Section on Aging and the Life
Course (SALC) are partnering this year for an exciting open session on
"Media and Aging Audiences/Fans/Users: New Areas of Inquiry" (see
description below).

We want your submissions!

The deadline - JANUARY 11, 3 P.M. EST -- is almost here. Instructions can
be found at: http://www.asanet.org/meetings/Call_for_Papers.cfm

Media and Aging Audiences/Fans/Users: New Areas of Inquiry. Given
population aging and fundamental changes in the structure of the 20th
century (Western) life course, along with rapid changes in the extent to
which our lives are mediated, the experiences and practices of media
audiences/fans/users are undergoing significant modification.
This session focuses particularly on older media participants; much has
been written about youth/teen markets and the emergence of the digital
generation but less is known about the adult/late life market or about
broader life course transitions. Submissions focusing on both traditional
mass media and new media technologies/social media are welcome. Session
Organizers: C. Lee Harrington, Miami University and Richard Settersten,
Oregon State University

Happy new year,

Cheers,

Rick Settersten
Chair, ASA Section on Aging and the Life Course
