The University of Arizona and the School of Sociology invite applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position to begin in August 2016, contingent upon the availability of funding. We seek applicants who address fundamental sociological questions using big data or computationally intensive methods. Substantive fields might include, but are not restricted to: health and medical sociology; sociology of science; politics and social movements (including communication and social media); organizations; network analysis; inequality/stratification; and law and society. The successful applicant will be expected to teach courses on how to access and analyze big data, which may involve techniques such as data mining, automated information retrieval, simulation, natural language processing, computational algorithms, or other computationally intensive methods.
