Tenure-Track FacultyPosition in Emerging Media Studies – Starting Fall 2017  BostonUniversity’s College of Communication expects to have a tenure-track AssistantProfessor opening in thearea of social aspects of emerging communication with a preferred emphasis onmobile communication. We are seeking scholars withmethodological sophistication concerning emerging communication technology.Specialties in mobile technology-related topics are of particular interest,given that the Division of Emerging Media Studies is the home of the Center forMobile Communication Studies. Scholars with expertise in mobile communicationfrom a variety of disciplinary perspectives are strongly encouraged to applyfor this position. The Division is also open to other areas of expertise, forexample in health or political communication, which are among the many strengthsof the Division. Thesuccessful applicant will carry out a research program on the uses andconsequences of mobile communication and other personal communicationtechnologies and play a major role in BU’s Center for Mobile CommunicationStudies. Teaching duties include teaching two courses per semester in thecandidate’s specialty area and, more broadly, in the College’s Emerging MediaStudies Division. The incumbent is also expected to actively participate in theCollege’s newly launched PhD program in emerging media. The candidatewill have a PhD degree in Communication or in cognate or related fields by thetime of appointment. As amember of the prestigious Association of American Universities (AAU), BostonUniversity strongly emphasizes research and innovation, and the College ofCommunication demonstrates this commitment through its support of andfacilities for faculty and graduate student research.  Boston is a richmulticultural city and a hub of higher learning with a wide array ofrecreational activities.  Currentlyranked among the largest media market in United States, Boston is a thrivingcenter of cultural and intellectual creativity. Situated in the heart of this historic yet urban environment, Boston Universityfaculty and students regularly form close partnerships with international mediaand research firms.
