The Internet and Society Division (Prof. Dr. Eszter Hargittai) of the
Institute of Communication and Media Research is looking for a postdoctoral
scholar ("OberassistentIn") to join the group. The ideal candidate will
have experience doing research on people's Internet uses and plans to
continue research in this area. Current projects in our division include
studying people's Web-use skills; differential rates of social media
adoption; understanding why some people are more likely than others to
contribute to content online; use of the Internet for health; getting
social support online; political uses of the Internet; and a focus on older
adults' Internet uses. We seek a new group member whose work matches some
of the existing research in the group.

Start date: September 1, 2018. The position is for two years, renewable for
up to six years.

*Job requirements*

Research on people's Internet uses, publication in scholarly outlets,
presentation at academic conferences.
Teaching one course per semester (in English or German).
Serving as a mentor to group members pursuing their doctorates.
Supervising junior researcher theses.
Attending weekly group meetings.

*Required and desired applicant qualifications*

The candidate must have Ph.D. in hand by the start date of the position. A
Ph.D. in social science such as communication, sociology, political science
or related field is required. The ideal candidate will have experience
working with survey data. Knowledge of Stata or R is a plus. Excellent
English skills - both spoken and written - are necessary.
